about the artist.
about the work.
Born in Ontario, and raised with a deep love of the woods.
Moved to Nova Scotia, and developed a desire for the sea.
Brought to Saskatchewan, to appreciate the living skies.
And finally, taught in Alberta beside the breath taking mountains.
The artist has had the opportunity to live in many of Canada’s offered landscapes, she currently resides in Calgary, Alberta while under going studies at the Alberta College of Art and Design. Her work is currently influenced by an interest in the warring simplicity and complexity of geometric patterning and design. While studying these aspects of her practice, she has found that there are near limitless possibilities for arrangement and placement, making visually satisfying configurations exciting to explore.
Clean leading lines that draw the viewer in and move their eye smoothly though the work, with a duality of complex texture, color, and pattern, to encourage reviewing. Her work often has so many features that new aspects can be discovered each time it is taken in. While working alone, or closely with other emerging and professional artists, V'Sheal enjoys creating pieces that put on display the bold relationship that can occur between geometric rigidity and organic flux. Specifically their capabilities to conflict, confront, and then combine, working together to define each other’s best qualities, all simultaneously. While the mediums used vary with projects, interests, and collaborating artist, She is always crucially aware of the demands and decisions that are made to better suit the support and enforce the conceptual purpose of each artwork.
